Scientific knowledge underpins advances in care, support and education. To further improve care, support and education, we need to understand more about Down syndrome and provide robust evaluation of interventions.

The Sue Buckley Research Fund will:

  • Support more scientific research studies that seek to identify and evaluate effective care, support and interventions that lead to improvements in the quality of life for people with Down syndrome.
  • Support collaboration and partnership among scientists, practitioners, families and people with Down syndrome. In particular, the fund will promote interdisciplinary dialogue, foster collaboration between researchers and practitioners and engage people with Down syndrome and their families to inform priorities.
  • Promote more applied research to devise and evaluate the effective practical strategies and intervention.
  • Promote the value of scientific research and its importance for informing further progress for people with Down syndrome everywhere.
